Beef Chili


This chili is put together with ground beef and chopped up round steak. You can choose to omit the peppers or use a different kind depending on your preference.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced round steak, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (optional, less heat use 1/4)
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 (16 oz) can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce



  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown ground beef



  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pot
  • Add onion and cook for 3 minutes, then add chopped round steak and cook until brown



  • Add the ground beef to the pot, chili powder, cumin, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne (optional). Stir until completely combined and cook 3 minutes to let the flavor meld together




  • Add beef broth, diced tomatoes including juice, and tomato sauce
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer and cook 20-25 minutes
  • Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving
